Arsenal have officially confirmed a deal for veteran goalie Emma Byrne.
Arsenal made this statement via the club’s official website to announce that the Republic of Ireland international has committed her future to the club.
Byrne joined Arsenal in January 2000 from St Patrick’s Athletic, and has been the Arsenal Ladies first choice goalkeeper ever since, helping the club to a total of 11 league titles, nine FA Cups and, in 2007, the UEFA Women’s Cup in a career at Arsenal spanning over 15years.
And now, the 36-year-old veteran who is also capped 100 times for her country, has put pen to paper on a new deal at the club along with fellow teammates Emma Mitchell, Alex Scott and Casey Stoney.
Ladies manager Pedro Martinez Losa said: “Emma Byrne, Emma Mitchell, Alex and Casey are all key players for our team and we are delighted they have decided to commit their futures to the club. They bring fantastic experience and a winning mentality to the squad and it is important for us to keep players of their quality.”
