Arsenal and Tottenham are both interested in signing Real Madrid midfield sensation Mateo Kovacic, according to reports in Spain.

Kovacic joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2015 from Inter Milan for £25million, but he has struggled to hold onto a first-team spot at the Bernabeu.

And according to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, the Croatia international has attracted interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.

Wenger is in the market for a replacement for long term injured Santi Cazorla who is also nearing the end of his career and no better choice for that role than Kovacic.

The Croatian has the football flair as Cazorla and the ability to burst forward like ex-Gunner Tomas Rosicky and given his young age, he is only bound to improve on his game.

The 23-year-old could also be in line for a return to Italy, with AC Milan, Inter Milan and Roma all said to be interested.

Gooners, do you think Kovacic is the type of midfielder Arsenal need at the moment or should Wenger turn his attention to more proven stars this summer?
