Everton could turn their attention to Danny Welbeck if they fail to sign Olivier Giroud, according to reports.
Koeman has made signing a striker his priority this summer and he is looking to Arsenal for a new No. 9. He’s been heavily linked with Giroud all summer but Wenger is reluctant to let the French man leave.
Wenger has continued to frustrate the Toffees attempt to sign Giroud but Koeman who looks determined to raid Arsenal this month could consider a move for another Arsenal player if they can’t sign the French striker.
According to the Mirror via Football Insider, Everton are considering a bid for Welbeck as an alternative to Giroud.
Koeman has been attracted by Welbeck’s pace and ability to act as a target man.
The report claims Arsenal value Welbeck at £30m and Everton who have spent big this summer wouldn’t have a problem meeting the valuation if that’s what is needed to convince Arsenal to sell.
Despite Welbeck missing the majority of the last two seasons with injuries, I think he is indispensable to Arsenal at the moment. His ability to play as a centre forward and on the wing makes him an asset and I don’t think Wenger would want to sanction his exit.
