Galatasaray vs Arsenal: Player Ratings, MOTM, FOTM.

In a night where little was expected of an Arsenal attack made-up of mostly fringe players, The Gunners took centre stage and made their night in Turkey a memorable one.

Here are my player ratings for the match against Galatasaray.

Szcz?sny: 6.5

Returned back to the starting line-up. Didn’t seem like he was gonna be busy all night up until the second half. A very good and confident game from the Arsenal number 1 goalie.

Chambers: 6.5

By far a better game from the young defender compared to last weekend’s against Stoke. Looked composed for most part of the game. Would you rather have him remain in the defensive central position than at right back?

Mertersacker: 7

The Arsenal captain got in almost every block last night. Lead the team and charged them on all through the game. Arguably one of his best performance for us this season.

Bellerin: 6.5

Great game compared to his first UCL start this season even though this time he was drifted into the left-back position. Made some bursting runs at the Galatasaray defence yet managing to keep his line secured. You start to wonder if there’s any room left for Jenko. Great game from the youngster.

Debuchy: 6.5

3 Months out! Looked as though he was never out for the said period of time. Composed all through the night. Timely return you’d say. We sure could use him against Newcastle in the weekend.  Great game from the Frenchman.

Flamini: 5.5 FOTM

Can we keep blaming Flamini for our ever failing defensive midfield holding role? No. Why? Because Wenger has refused to secure a permanent solution to the problem hence we continue to deal with his mis-timed challenges and unnecessary bookings. Came out with a calf problem at half time. Flop of the match for me.

Ramsey: 8.5 MOTM

A 45 minutes display was enough for Ramsey to pick up the man of the match award for the whole games payed in Europe last night and who knows possibly tonight as well. Set up one +  2 goals for the night, 3 in two game and 2 volleys in two games as well. Words are scarce to describe THAT VOLLEY so i’ll leave you to do so.

OX: 8

Could have easily been the man of the match in the absence of Ramsey and maybe Poldi. Was a menace for Galatasaray and proved to tough to handle. Was excellent for Arsenal in the middle of the park, working brilliantly with Ramsey. i’m yet to conclude if he should be played more often in the middle than down the flank.

Campbell: 6

Honestly, among the Arsenal bench warmers that were given a chance last night, Joel Campbell was the worst, given he had a chance to stake his claim for the Arsenal first team. Was watched by many but didn’t turn up in a night where it mattered.

Poldolsk: 8

Had a chance to prove to Wenger and his fans that he still got it and has been so far unfairly considered for the line-up and he did it!. 2 goals in a night where all eyes was on him to deliver. Should he get more starters like this for Arsenal???

Sanogo: 6

Not a very good game from the young Frenchman considering 2 people behind him bagged a brace each while he had to settle for just an assist.

Zelalem: 5.5

Came on at half time for Ramsey and made a few good runs and passes.

Niles: 6

Came on at half time as well for Flamini and was immediately visible in the defensive midfield role.

O’Connor: N/A
