Arsene Wenger and Kieran Gibbs has hailed Alexis Sanchez’s performances against Sunderland on Saturday.
The Chile international who has been impressive since he was moved to the centre forward position at the beginning of the season continued his good form against Sunderland, causing lots of problem for the opponents and he has received praises for his performance.
Kieran Gibbs was the first to shower praises on the winger, backing him to become better after hitting half a century Arsenal goals with his first strike of the game.
“Alexis obviously deserves everything he gets for the work that he puts in on the pitch and every day in training,” Gibbs told Arsenal’s official website.
“He’s a world-class striker and with 50 goals for him, you feel like there’s only more to come.”
Wenger also hailed the striker for the way he has adapted to the new position.
“He [Sanchez] is doing extremely well and I believe that he enjoys it [playing as a striker].” Wenger said.
The boss also hinted at a change in formation in order to accommodate both the Chilean and Olivier Giroud.
“But we can as well play 4-4-2 with two through the middle as well, because Mesut can play in behind or on the flank. I will see. Let’s not create problems that we don’t have at the moment.”
The new position seems to have brought out the best in Sanchez. I must say he has been more than impressive in that role so far and I was a bit sceptical when Wenger made the decision to play him upfront earlier. His first goal on Saturday was a classic centre forward goal and hopefully many more will come.
