Arsenal have completed the signing of Nigeria starlet Kelechi Nwakali, according to reports.
The under 17 golden boy has signed a five year contract with the Gunners from Diamond football academy in his country.
The midfielder flew to London last month to finalise the deal after Arsenal reached an agreement with his academy side.
And now his agent has confirmed that the player has finally put pen to paper.
Speaking to Nigeria newspaper publication Sports Day, the agent said:
“Kelechi has signed a five-year deal with Arsenal. I won’t be able to mention the exact transfer fee but it is above two million pounds.”
The deal will commence once the midfielder turns 18 as FIFA rule prevents European clubs from signing players who are less than 18.
Arsenal had to fight off fierce competition from Bayern Munich and Manchester City in the race to sign the 17 year old.
The midfielder was the best player in the Fifa U17 world cup that was held in Chile last year. he could be a star in the Gunners first team should he continue to improve and he has already talked up the opportunity of joining Arsenal and wants to work hard in order to become a first team regular in the future.
he said: “I am going to Arsenal to work and try to be the best I can. With God anything is possible, to work hard to justify my claim for first-team football.”
