Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez has been heavily linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium.
A move to Arsenal was said to be on the cards last summer but the midfielder ended spending another season with the Foxes. However, he is keen on leaving the Kings Power stadium this summer, leading to another report of a move to Arsenal flooding the media.
And when the news of his potential transfer to the Emirates appeared to have cooled down, Italian club Roma submitted a bid of £30 million to sign the Algeria international, which was rejected by Leicester City who valued him at £50 million.
Confirming Roma’s bid for Mahrez, Leicester Coach Shakespeare said:
“I think I was quoted as saying on the last press day there had been no bids.”
“There has been a bid from Roma. I was told afterwards so I want to put the record straight.
“It was politely declined on the basis it was a low offer.
Arsenal had also turned their attention to Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, but the French champions are demanding for an outrageous fee. In the light of that, the FA Cup winners and now Liverpool are interested in his services and are keeping close tabs on his situations at the Leicester, report the Express.
Mahrez is reportedly also keen on staying in the Premier League, with the North London club his preferred destination.
The 27-year-old was integral to Leicester City winning the Premier League title in 2015/2016 season, scoring 18 goals in 39 appearances. But his form dropped last season as his side battled to avoid relegation and he could only manage 10 goals and seven assists.
