Arsenal are on the verge of tying Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez down to new contracts, according to the Metro.
The Gunners have been in talks with the two players since May and the club now believes they are close to reaching an agreement with them.
Ozil and Sanchez placed talks on hold during the summer break to focus on international duties and now that they are fully focused on club football, the Sunday Mirror are claiming Arsenal are confident they will soon commit their future to the club.
The duo were linked with moves away from the Emirates in the summer transfer window and the new contract is expected to put an end to speculations about their future.
The two players are the only world class players Arsenal can really boast of and the new deal is expected to reflect their importance to the team by making them the highest earners at the club.
Wenger has already revealed he has no fears about the duo extending their contract at the club.
We keep that [information] internally and we make progress always but it’s not always a quick process,’ said Wenger in August.
‘They still have two years contract, so there’s no urgency as well.
‘There is no reason for Arsenal fans to be concerned. At the moment we have priorities that are a bit different.
‘Most of the time the extensions of a contract are done outside the transfer window because it gives you a bit more time and focus on that.’
It might take a little longer but it appears the club is doing everything possible to keep the duo at the Emirates for long.
