Leicester City will demand a huge fee for Arsenal target Riyad Mahrez should they be forced to sell the winger against their wish this summer, according to reports.
The current PFA player of the year is being linked with a move to the Emirates and the Foxes are trying to fend off interest by offering the player a new deal. The league champions are hopeful the player will sign a new deal worth £100,000 a week.
However, according to the Telegraph via the Metro, Leicester will demand a bid worth more than £30m for Mahrez should he refuse to sign a new deal.
Contrary to some reports, the player has no release clause in his contract and the Foxes have the sole responsibility to place a valuation on the winger.
The winger who scored 17 goals and made 11 assists last season has remained coy about his future. When asked about reports linking him with a summer move to the Emirates, he said:
“It is flattering to hear, as I said nothing is agreed, nothing is done.”
“We will see… For the moment I have not made a decision. We will see.
“It is possible that I stay, it is possible that I leave. We will see.”
Arsenal are also keen on Mahrez’ teammate Jamie Vardy and have already activated the striker’s release clause.
