Alexis Sanchez has been in the transfer news of Arsenal and Manchester City since last season and it appears that he could stay put at Arsenal for the rest of this season.
However, Tony Cottee has claimed that Alexis Sanchez will switch the Emirates for the Etihad on the condition that he gets regular game time and not for earning more money, reports the Express.
Sanchez is already in the final six months of his contract with Arsenal. He is free to speak with any club of his choice in this window and in the summer, he is likely to walk out of Arsenal as a free agent.
He has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain but the Etihad Stadium appear to be his next stop as Pep Guardiola is said to be an admirer of the star.
According to former England and Millwall star turned pundit Tony Cottee, Sanchez will have a far bigger wage if he waited to complete Man City move in the summer as he would negotiate the wage himself.
“Purely from a player’s point of view, he needs to sit tight if it’s about money,” he said on Sky Sports.
“He’s just got to sit tight because at the end he’s going to get a stack-load more money at the end of the season by being a free transfer than if he moves now. If it’s about money.
“If it’s about football, he’ll sign for Man City and move on.”
Arsene Wenger has dismissed the possibility of allowing the player leave in this transfer window, with claims that the Chilean star could still sign another new deal.
Despite experiencing a deep in form, Sanchez remains one of the best players of Arsenal and if he leaves, it might take some time to replace the star.
