Everton scout Carlo Jacommuzzi has basically confirmed that his club will sign Olivier Giroud this summer, despite Wenger unwilling to let him leave.
The Toffees are planning a £20m bid to sign the French man who has been linked with a move away from the Emirates all summer.
Wenger is not interested in letting Giroud leave despite the arrival of Lacazette and has already urged him to stay but Everton who are set to lose Romelu Lukaku are looking to test Arsenal’s resolve.
And Jacommuzzi believes Everton will eventually sign Giroud this summer.
When asked about the Toffees pursuit of a striker, the Italian Everton scout said, via The Express:
“We are going to sign Giroud for £20m – a bargain compared to the €25m being asked for Zapata.
Giroud had a limited role at the Emirates last season and it is for this reason he is being linked with a move away from the club. However the striker recently admitted in an interview that he has no intention of leaving.
“I want to carry on my good journey at Arsenal and I always want to give my best.
“I would love to win another title, or maybe more until the end of my contract. The motivation is here, always doing your best to make your family proud.”
Now who do we believe, the scout that have publicly claimed they are closing in on a player who has no intention of leaving?
Well, in football, anything can happen and Giroud could still change his mind before the transfer window ends. However, the striker staying will be a huge boost to Arsenal as he can still play a crucial role in the team if he stays.
