Arsenal have been boosted with news that in-form Arsenal forward Theo Walcott is set to put pen to paper for a new long term deal at Arsenal, after several weeks of doubts over his future at the club.
According to the Sun, Arsenal’s England international Walcott is set to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium with a new contract, putting an end to speculations of the 26-year-old set for a summer exit.
The report says the pacy forward has held successful talks with the club recently and will extend his stay at the club, after entering the last one year of his contract.
Walcott who spent the bulk of the last 18 months sidelined with injuries, was subject of a summer exit with rivals Liverpool reportedly keen on snapping up the former Saints player.
However, Walcott who is currently the longest serving Arsenal star having joined the club in the second half of the 2005/2006 season from Southampton has finally held talks and has agreed to extend his stay at the Emirates.
Walcott was in fine form for the Gunners at the tail end of last season, where he bagged four goals in just two appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side, making his statement for a deserved contract extention at the Emirates Stadium.
It is said that among the things requested by Walcott before agreeing a new deal was guarantee of more play time, as well as an assured playing position in the Arsenal attack.
