Proven Premier League midfield legend has fired back at Arsenal, insisting they don’t have enough mettle to win the League despite recent win.
Liverpool Legend Graeme Souness has slammed Arsenal and claims they cannot win the title, via the Daily Star.
The Gunners have been in the title race in the past few seasons but usually end up falling aside at some point and Souness believes the Gunners could come short of the title race again this term.
Many have thought this is the best opportunity for Arsenal to win the Premier League title that has eluded them for over 10 years but the recent run of poor results have forced many to take a different stand and Souness now think the Gunners could miss out on the title again because of the lack of leadership in the team.
Wenger recently claimed his side has enough quality to win their big games but the former Liverpool man is taking a different stand and believes the Gunners lack enough mentally strong players in their squad that will see them through the key games.
Souness told Sky Sports : “Arsenal have shown a lack of belief and a lack of confidence this season, and that’s when you need the big personalities to step up.
“But you look for the big personalities at Arsenal, and it’s difficult. Petr Cech has improved them by at least 10 points, and that should put them somewhere close to winning it, but they are still trailing by two points.
“They got away with it against Leicester City last weekend, and they need to step it up a gear to get back to how they were playing earlier this season.
“Arsene Wenger commented on the lack of confidence prior to the game at the Vitality Stadium, but I’m sorry, the big players he’s got should be helping out the rest of the team.
“Do Arsenal have enough of these players to see them through the sticky spells? On past history, you’d have to say the answer is no, and that could be their undoing again.
“They don’t have enough mettle in their team.”
