Laurent Koscielny has urged us to be resilient and grind out wins if we want to win the league title this season.

We have been in scintillating form in recent weeks which has catapulted us to top of the league table. In the process we have won seven of our last eight games across all competitions.

One of those was a 1-0 win against Burnley last month which looked like what was heading for a draw until Koscielny rose up in the last minute to net the winner.

Other impressive wins have followed that but the defender is not getting carried away and he believes we must stay focused and grind out wins like we did against Burnley so we can finish top of the table at the end of the season.

“If you want to be champions, you have to win the tough games,” he told Sky Sports.

“The most important thing is to win games when you are not playing well. We need to come out of games saying: ‘it was difficult, but we won 1-0′.

“It’s important to have this during the season whenever we have bad moments or when it’s difficult to play our football.

“In football, it’s always difficult to play at the same level, with the same quality of passing and movement.

“Sometimes, you’re in defensive positions more and have to fight with your team-mates to keep the clean sheet. You must adapt to different situations.

The defender also added that we have the quality to challenge for major honors this season but insists we must stay concentrated.

“The squad is better, we are more experienced and we have played together a long time.

“The league is very long – it’s a marathon, not a sprint. We can see from last season that it’s difficult to stay high in the table.”

The Premier League appears to be our priority this season and we hope the team can do enough to end our 12 year league title wait.
