Arsenal Legend Martin Keown believes Vardy can be a key player for Arsenal should the England international complete a move to the Emirates.
Vardy is currently weighing up his options as Arsenal activated the striker’s £20m release clause last Friday, he has been offered a deal by Leicester City to counter Arsenal’s offer and the striker has decided to take time to mull over both offers.
Keown believes Vardy’s style of play would make him an instant hit at the Emirates and he could be the missing link the Gunners require to win the League title.
“If you look at Vardy and you look at what Arsenal don’t have down the middle with their strikers – someone who likes to run behind a defence – then if you feed him he’s a real handful and as good as anyone,” the former England defender told 888sport, as quoted by Goal.
“He’d be a player who would strengthen Arsenal and give them more variation to their play which they lack down that central area.”
Keown also praised the club for their decisiveness in the transfer window.
Should Vardy complete a move to Arsenal, he will be the Gunner’s second summer signing following the £33m capture of Granit Xhaka and Keown believes getting business done early will send serious signals to Premier League rivals ahead of next season.
