Arsenal Legend Thierry Henry believes Theo Walcott has been limited by the fact that he has been unable to find out his best position on the pitch.

The forward is usually deployed on the right wing by Wenger and the player himself has publicly declared his desire to play as a centre forward.

However the England international has failed to impress in either of the roles for Arsenal and Henry believes that is the player’s major problem.

Many fans believe Walcott has failed to live up to his potential prior to his move to the Emirates in 2006 but Henry suggests the England international can still have a wonderful career should he sort out his best position.

‘He has struggled,’ said Henry, as quoted by the Daily Mail. His 10 years at Arsenal have been a weird one. Apart from one season where he played more than 30 games, he wasn’t really a starter. If Welbeck is out and Oxlade-Chamberlain is out, we all know how important pace is in the way (England manager Roy) Hodgson wants to play.

‘If you go, you have to have performed. I always have a mixed reaction, Theo Walcott has been in the game for 10 years, you should know about him. You always have something to prove, he should know what he can offer to a team.

‘By now he should know what his position is, but it is not clear.’

Walcott featured sparingly for the Gunners this term after falling behind Joel Campbell and Alex Iwobi in the club’s pecking order hence missing a spot in the England squad travelling to France this summer for the European championships
