He’s Ready! Arsenal Target Goes The Extra Mile To Force January Move.

When the clouds appear over the sky, you know it’s going to rain!

Real Madrid’s midfielder, Sami Khedira, has added more ferrous matter to ease Arsenal’s ability to magnet him away from the Bernabeu by cutting down on his wage demand to as low as £80,000 according to Metro.

The German International who has been tracked by Arsenal all summer, even during the World Cup while on duty for Die Manshaaft at Brasil, does not appear to be a regular with Madrid anymore as he was over the past few seasons, especially due to the arrival of fellow German midfield powerhouse, Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich. Khedira has fallen down the pecking order in Ancelotti’s rating, with Modric being the other regular pair for Toni.

The Real gaffer had insisted that Khedira would be sold only in the summer window but we know too well that the business is done with or without the manager’s consent, as far as Los Merengues are concerned. The 27 year old midfielder has decided against renewing his contract, seeking rather for a new challenge in another environment, the Premier League believed to be his preferred destination. While Juventus and AC Milan have been mooted around as part of those sniffing around for a word with the player, Chelsea remain Arsenal’s biggest rival to signing the player.

In reality, though, it seems bank balances are more of the stronger determinant in this deal. Khedira apparently did not want to come in the summer due to plus or minus errors in the agreements regarding wages, his demands being in excess of £150,000 at the time. Slashing it now by close to 50% is a sure sign of his desire to move on and he will indeed be welcomed to the Emirates. He will not have to find his way around the club as we have a contingent of Germans who will make him at home and comfortable.

More importantly, he will bring solidity to the midfield, especially in the deeper positions, closest to the defence. There is some talk about him not being as good in defensive duties as the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin or William Carvalho, without consideration to the fact that he has played as the deepest in the German teams for a long time now, even since the World Cup in South Africa four years ago.

Real are definitely going to cash in on Khedira if he shows more coldness towards signing an extension with them as it would be rather uncanny to lose a player of such quality for nothing in the summer. They will hold out for a significant fee, seeing that there is already, ensued, some kind of competition for his signature. We may have to muster a little more than the £10m we’d believed would be sufficient.
