Arsenal are reportedly cooking up a mammoth offer for one of Wenger’s long-term admires.
The Gunners are reportedly set to make a £35million bid to sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, the Metro reports.
There have been earlier reports which claims Arsenal can now move to sign the French striker at the end of the season with the Spanish giants ready to sell.
The report says Madrid are willing to let the striker go with the intent on triggering a £21.6 million buy-back clause for Juventus’ Alvaro Morata and will use the sale of Benzema to fund the deal.
And now the Metro say Arsenal are making an ambitious summer move for his services, with a £35million bid lined up.
It is no secret that Wenger is a keen admirer of Benzema – right from his days at Lyon, with the Gunner’s boss reportedly failing on several occasions to land the 6 ft 2 in tall striker.
Wenger is looking to add more fire power to his frontline next season and news of Benzema’s availability in the summer is sure to spring the boss to action in the coming weeks for his signature.
However, the Metro claim Benzema would want wages of about £220,000-a-week to join. Which would make him the club’s highest earner if Wenger sanctions the deal.
