Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez could snub Arsenal for Premier League rivals Manchester United, according to reports.
Rodriguez future at Madrid is under threat having lost his place in the starting xi since Zidane became boss. The playmaker has seen his game time reduced at the Bernabeu with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Sergio Asensio and Lucas Vasquez ahead of him in the pecking order.
English clubs were interested in signing him in the just concluded summer transfer window but he preferred to stay and fight for his Real Madrid future.
Amongst the Premier League club interested in the playmaker were Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
Spanish Outlet Diario Gol via The Express claims Rodriguez would prefer to join Manchester United.
The report suggests the player is ready to leave Real Madrid in January if his situation doesn’t improve and Arsenal are still keen on his services. However the player’s agent Jorge Mendes has already convinced him to link up with Mourinho at Old Trafford.
There is still hope that Arsenal can sign the player but it will require a lot of hard work to beat Manchester United to the Colombian’s signature.
It seems Wenger is still keen on adding a new playmaker to his squad as he was also linked with Riyad Mahrez in the just concluded summer transfer window. Rodriguez is a quality player who can strengthen any squad and hopefully we can convince him to move to the Emirates.
