Unai Emery could make PSG star Adrien Rabiot his first signing as the new Arsenal manager, according to reports.
Emery and Rabiot worked together in the French capital and won the domestic treble this season before the Spaniard left the club.
He has since been snapped up by Arsenal, who named Emery as Arsene Wenger’s successor yesterday.
Rabiot was a shock omission from France’s World Cup squad but Arsenal could cheer him up.
Calciomercato report the Gunners want to make a move for the midfielder who could have a cut-price.
Rabiot has a year remaining on his contract though it is claimed the 23-year-old could help push a bargain deal through.
And that could be a benefit to Emery who is rumoured to be working on a tight budget.
“I believe in the players who are here,” Emery said.
”I think we can develop with these players and the objective is together to work hard, with this talent, the players work and all the title who will be in the next season or in the future, to be a candidate for challenging the title.
“That is very important for the club, after two years outside the Champions League, working for this.
“To arrive and to be in the best club, the best team in the Premier League and also in the world.”
There could be a stumbling block though as Rabiot blames PSG for his World Cup omission, citing an inconsistent amount of playing time.
That was with Emery in charge but it is claimed that Arsenal could offer the Frenchman assurances about his future on the pitch.
