After 22 years in charge, Arsene Wenger has at most five games left as the manager of Arsenal.

The 68-year-old’s first match since the announcement of his imminent departure saw the Gunners win 2-1 defeat to Manchester United last weekend.

While the prestige of the Emirates job has attracted a spread of high-profile suitors, one name stands out as the favourite to succeed Wenger.

Luis Enrique – who’s been out work since parting ways with Barcelona expired in March last year – is thought to be the most likely candidate to take over once the Frenchman steps down.

The treble-winning tactician expects to earn the same £9 million annual salary Wenger has pocketed in recent seasons, but his demands extend beyond personal terms.

According to the Sun, Enrique wants £200 million to fund a major overhaul of the current Arsenal squad, with only two players thought to be safe from the axe.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette won’t be up for sale, which is hardly a surprise considering the £100 million duo both arrived within the last 12 months.

That means every goalkeeper, defender and midfielder at Arsenal should count themselves as expendable if Enrique agrees a deal with the north London club.
