Borussia Dortmund have turned down a bid from Arsenal for Ousmane Dembele, according to reports.
Strengthening the attack appears to be a priority this summer but we have only managed to sign Alexandre Lacazette. A winger still remains a priority but we have been unable to bring one in.
Wenger has been working on a deal to sign Monaco winger Thomas Lemar all summer but the French giants are reluctant to sell.
Reports in Spain are now suggesting that Arsenal are exploring other targets. According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo via the Daily Cannon, Arsenal have made an attempt to sign Dembele.
However, the 20 year old winger is also on the radar of top clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid, with the former believed to be preparing a big bid for him as a replacement for Neymar.
The midfielder’s suitors now have a lot to do to lure him, after BVB turned down Arsenal’s offer. The amount Arsenal offered for the player wasn’t revealed but it must be well short of BVB ‘s valuation.
According to Sport Bild, BVB will not sell Dembele for less than £90m which is almost two times Arsenal’s club record transfer fee.
With Arsenal on the verge of losing Alexis Sanchez, Dembele would be a great replacement for the Chilean but it wil take a lot of effort to convince BVB into selling him as Arsenal will have to meet their valuation.
Dembele’s goalscoring and creative exploits will be a massive asset to our squad if we manage to get him but I doubt the possibility of a deal happening because of the difficulty in pushing through a deal.
