According to the Mirror, Arsenal target Jonny Evans is holding out for a summer move to Manchester City and is reluctant to join long-time suitors Arsenal.
The West Brom captain and ex-Manchester United trainee will be available for a cut-price £3million on a relegation buy-out clause.
The Baggies considered selling Evans, 30, in January to raise funds but turned down bids from league leaders City and the Gunners.
Now though a summer transfer is inevitable with bottom club Albion 10 points adrift of safety with just five games left.
Their fate could be sealed on Sunday when caretaker Darren Moore takes Albion to Manchester United, who sold Evans to WBA in 2015 for £8m.
Northern Ireland international Evans is still based in the north west and is understood to firmly favour moving to the Etihad above the Emirates.
A deal could be close as MirrorSport understands City were just £2m off meeting Albion’s valuation in January.
Evans last year turned down a £100,000-a-week deal to extend his Albion deal which is up next year.
