High flying Arsenal star, Olivier Giroud insists that his improved performance in recent weeks has been due to the high level of competition up front for the Gunners.
Giroud is currently level on goals with fellow teammate, Alexis Sanchez and looks extremely sharp in front of goal at the moment, having found the back of the net five times in four games in the month of March.
The 28-year-old is very happy with his recent performances for Arsenal while insisting that a fight for first team chances with the likes of Danny Welbeck and Alexis has kept him on his toes, forcing improvements in his game.
After winning the Barclays Premier League player for the month of March, the forward while speaking to Arsenal player said:
“When I was injured, I was really happy to see Alexis and Danny sign, because I was telling myself that it would push me to give my best every day,” Giroud told Arsenal Player.
“I used to say that football is never lasting so you have to question yourself every week, and that’s what I try to do.”
“It’s a benefit for the team and for me to have a lot of good strikers.”
“We will want to keep the FA Cup,” he added.
“We won it last year and in the Premier League we have a really tough game on Saturday. We need to beat Liverpool to keep them far from us in the Champions League race.”
“We will want to finish strongly in third place or second place – it doesn’t matter but we want to qualify for the Champions League straight away. Let’s focus on our game first and we’ll see where that will get us. Hopefully City or Chelsea will miss some steps.”
Since his return from a broken tibia injury last November, Giroud has scored 13 goals, assisting 3 times with a further 23 chances created.
