Manchester City have not given up on signing Hector Bellerin, according to reports.
The full back has developed into one of our key players since he made his first team debut in 2013 and his performances have attracted a number of top clubs. While that is a good thing, the problem is they are interested in luring him away from North London.
We turned down enquiries from Manchester City and Barcelona for the defender in the summer. To the delight of many of us, it was a statement from the club that the days when we sold our best players to other clubs were over.
Barcelona have since conceded defeat in its attempt to sign the defender but Manchester City have not given up and The Mirror claims Guardiola’s men will return with a new bid next summer.
The report claims Arsenal value Bellerin for around £40m and City are prepared to match that figure in order to convince us into selling one of our prized assets.
The news comes after reports claimed earlier in the week the defender will snub a new contract in order to join Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
However, we won’t read too much to these rumors and we expect to see the defender at the club for many more years to come. City would be better off looking elsewhere because it will be almost impossible to convince Wenger to sell a player who still has three years left in his contract.
Talks to tie the defender down on a new five year deal will commence after the current international break and should he sign a contract extension, City’s hopes of signing the defender will be ended.
