Injured Arsenal summer signing Lucas Perez has revealed he is happy with his switch to the Emirates despite finding game time difficult to come by.

The striker has found it difficult to break into the starting xi due to the good form of Alexis Sanchez but he has revealed that Arsene Wenger has assured him he will play a key role in the team going forward.

The £19m signing from Deportivo La Coruna has not started a league game since the 2-1 win over Southampton last month but he hasn’t allowed himself to be discouraged and is convinced that he would be given the chance to make an impact in the team soon.

The Spaniard showed a glimpse of his quality when he was introduced in the hour mark in the game against Ludogorets. He proved his credentials with two assists and is hoping that will be the beginning of good things but he is prepared to be patient as Wenger has assured him his time will come.

“Where I enjoy the most is up front because it’s where I’ve been playing in recent times but I can adapt to any position in the attack. I am here for every time the manager needs me,” the Spaniard said.

“When you arrive at a new club it’s obvious that you have the enthusiasm and the desire to prove your worth. But this is Arsenal and there is much competition, those who are playing are doing well. We have had seven wins in a row so it is normal that the master is trusting in the same players. The most important thing is to be ready to do my best when I have the chance.

“I am very happy at the club, in the city and my family is also very happy. It’s a little cold here but it’s a very nice town and there are many Spaniards.”

Perez is already showing he is a quality player who deserves to be playing regularly. His inability to force his way into the starting xi is a sign that our squad has so much quality.

We are hoping the team can maximize this quality and help us challenge for major titles this year.
