Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has revealed that Arsene Wenger sees him as an attacking midfielder while Roy Hodgson considers him a defensive midfielder, as per Squawka.

The midfielder who is currently out with an injury is highly regarded both at Arsenal and the England set up and he has now talked about the different roles he plays for his club side and national side.

Speaking in a TV show, Wilshere explained what Wenger thinks of him, he said:

“With England I play the one on my own and I enjoy that – I enjoy getting on the ball and starting things,” he said. “But with Arsenal we don’t play that system, we play the two. And I feel I can play in that.

“At the end of the day I suppose it’s down to the boss and we’ve had many conversations about it, and sometimes I’ve played on the wing for Arsenal. So I think the boss sees me more as an attacking player whereas the England boss sees me more of a holding player.

When asked about being confident in receiving the ball when under pressure, he replied: “Yeah, I think that’s part of my game because I’m not blessed with great pace so when I get past a player I have to feel him, get close to him and feel him – and you will be under pressure.”

The midfielder who is yet to feature for the Gunners this season is reportedly close to returning to full fitness, a news which will be a welcome boost to Arsene Wenger.
