Arsenal believe they will sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City this summer, as Wenger steps up his interest in the winger after completing Lacazette’s deal, according to Tribal Football.
Mahrez revealed in May that he wants to leave the King Power Stadium so he can take the next step of his career and was subsequently linked with a move to Arsenal.
Wenger also fueled speculations when he confirmed that he is a big fan of Mahrez and also hinting at the possibility of a summer bid for the Algerian.
Wenger had focused on signing Lacazette and Kolasinac and is prepared to step up Mahrez pursuit now that he has gotten his first two signings.
Report claim Arsenal have already offered the 26 year old a four year contract which he is close to agreeing and Italian journalist Tancredi Palmier has now revealed via Twitter that the Gunners are confident of wrapping up a deal.
Talking about how confident Arsenal are about signing Mahrez, Palmieri tweeted: “100%. Talks ongoing positively – again, after having attempted to sign Mahrez last year”.
A €40m transfer fee is expected to snap him up from Leicester and Arsenal will be hoping to reach an agreement with the Foxes as soon as possible so he can join up with the team for pre-season.
