Inter Milan president Erick Thohir admits they could lose Arsenal target Mauro Icardi this summer, according to the Daily Star.
The Argentine striker has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates with reports claiming the player’s agent Wanda Nara was in London to hold talks with Arsenal.
With Wenger interested in signing a striker, he explored the possibility of signing Icardi but the response gotten from the Italian club wasn’t encouraging.
Arsenal are not the only club interested in his services as Napoli who recently sold Higuain to Juventus made a £45.5m bid for Icardi which was turned down.
However Inter President Erick Thohir has reiterated his club’s desire to keep Icardi but admitted there is a chance the player would leave the San Siro this summer.
“We are all hoping to receive an even better offer,” he told Class CNBC when asked if he had rejected a bid this week.
“At this time Mauro is an important player for us, he is our captain.
“However, it is a dynamic market.
“Players come and go while Inter remains.”
Napoli have already signed Poland striker Arek Milik leaving Arsenal clear in the race to sign Icardi but it is unlikely that Wenger would pay more than the £45.5m already rejected. Arsenal are also working on a deal to sign Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette for a £35m fee.
