Is Dani Ceballos the right replacement for Aaron Ramsey?

Following a very quiet start to the 2019/20 summer transfer window, Arsenal opened up business in a rather slow fashion early July with the signing of 18-year old talented Brazilian attacker, Gabriel Martinelli.

The Gunners then followed it up 3 weeks later with two signings in William Saliba and Dani Ceballos.

As much as I would like to speak on all of Arsenal’s summer signings so far, I would like to focus on that of Ceballos, who clearly was brought in as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey – who departed the Emirates Stadium for Juventus in July on a free transfer.

Ramsey exit (especially on a free transfer), was met with serious disappointment among Arsenal fans, who had to bear the pain of watching one of their prized asset leave the club for nothing.

This lead Arsenal to be linked with a number of established midfielders, with several bookmakers such as bet now backing the Gunners to splash the cash to bring in a quality replacement for Ramsey this summer, rather than replacing him with a youngster from the Arsenal academy.

Following Ramsey’s departure, Arsenal boss Unai Emery as well as the recruiting board, where faced with the huge task of replacing Ramsey in the transfer window.

Emery had also thrown reporters off guard on several occasions about signing a replacement for Ramsey. In one case, Emery clearly said he would look into the Arsenal academy to bring players through. And rightly so, given the emergence of a fresh and talented new crop of players coming through the ranks.

Then on the 25th of July, Arsenal announced the loan signing of Ceballos from Real Madrid, with pundits such as casino usa backing the latest Gunners midfield signing to become a huge success in the Premier League.

Ceballos is highly regarded at the Bernabeu and this is evident as Madrid blatantly refused to include an option to buy clause in the deal that saw him make the loan switch to the Emirates.

Given his obvious talent, the 23-year old central attacking midfielder won the Player of The Tournament Award in the just concluded Euro U21 competition, and this is one of the reasons Arsenal went ahead with the loan signing even with Madrid’s insistent to leave out the option to buy.

Looking at Ceballos’ skill, vision, talent and most importantly STATS in the video above, one can expect him to fit in nicely in the shoes left by Ramsey, even if it is just for one year.

However, there are reports suggesting Arsenal have an option to extend his loan stay by an extra year if both parties can come to an agreement at the end of his first full season on loan at the Emirates.

Arsenal will be hoping they have made the right choice for a replacement for Ramsey.

In my opinion, Ceballos will be a perfect fit for Arsenal in the middle of the park, even though he is only here on loan.
