Jack “Pride” & His Double Figure Goalscoring Target!

Arsenal star midfielder, Jack Wilshere has revealed a major motivating factor in his bid to return to the form that once saw him labelled as the next big thing to emerge from English football.

The England international is almost back to his best in the centre of midfield having recovered from the injuries that hampered his progress after a storming start to his career and insisted that his “pride” has been a driving force so far.

Wilshere has been satisfied with his performances but believes he can reach an even higher level over the coming months.

“I’ve been very pleased,” he told Arsenal Player.

“I said at the start of the season that it was going to take me a few games to come back to the level I was at.

“When you miss time at this level you lose a bit of pace, a bit of form and it takes you time to get back. I’m very pleased.

“The main thing that got me back is my pride. I never wanted to stop – I was never satisfied with the level I was playing at.

“I always knew that I could come back to a level that I wanted to be at and be able to dominate games. I’m happy at the moment but I still think I can do a little bit better.”

Wojciech Szczesny recently said Wilshere would be the “complete player” if he could add more goals to his game, and the midfielder is in total agreement.

“I’ve said before that my goalscoring record has never been good enough and that I always want to add more goals,” he said.

“You look at the top midfielders in the world like Lampard and Gerrard who were getting 15 or 20 goals a season back in their day.

“I’m not saying I can get that many because they were specialists at that, but I could definitely get into double figures.”

It would surely be a season changer and a morale booster to have Jack, alone record double goal figures by the end of the season as it is sure to have a positive effect on the general’s team performance.

However, all we have to pray is for the 22 year old to to stay injury-free for most part of the season if not the rest of it. But he is not about to begin such a feat this weekend, as he has been ruled out of  the tie against Burnley with a slight knock to his knee.
