Reports from the Telegraph claims Jack Wilshere is “no closer” to signing a new Arsenal contract that would commit his future to the club beyond the end of this season, suggesting “things have changed” since Arsene Wenger said the decision was up to him.
Wilshere has not yet agreed to a new deal he was offered earlier this year which would reduce his basic salary by around 20 per cent to £90,00-a-week.
However, the offer he has been made does include potentially lucrative performance-based bonuses that could take his earnings beyond his current weekly salary of £110,000.
Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manager, last month urged Wilshere to agree to the new deal, saying that the midfielder was “yet to make a decision and find a pen somewhere”.
But Wilshere, who is currently set to become a free agent in June, said: “Things have changed since then. We are no closer to sorting anything out.”
