Everton could join the race to sign Olivier Giroud if Romelu Lukaku joins Chelsea this summer and also with Arsenal set to complete the signing of Alexandre Lacazette next week, according to reports.
The Toffees want to replace the Belgian with a proven Premier League striker and Ronald Koeman is keeping an eye on Giroud.
The French man had a tough season at the Emirates last term, losing his spot in the starting xi to Alexis Sanchez. He featured majorly as a substitute last term and there are reports that he could leave if his situation isn’t going to change next season.
He’s already been linked with West Ham and Olympique Marseille both of whom are reportedly prepared to spend big to sign him.
And now Transfer Market Web via The Daily Star, Everton are plotting a move for Giroud as a replacement for Lukaku.
Giroud started only 11 Premier League games for Arsenal this season but the French man still made impact at Arsenal, scoring crucial goals off the bench.
Although the striker’s preference will be to remain at Arsenal, he could ask to leave if Wenger signs a new striker this summer and then consider a move to a club where he can play regularly especially as next term precedes a world cup competition.
Wenger is reportedly keen on signing both Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe and Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette this summer. And with reports of a deal set to be confirmed for the later next week, Giroud’s position in the team would be thrown into further doubt which will cause him to leave the club.
