Arsene Wenger will be without the suspended Laurent Koscielny for the home clash against Leicester City, while Alexis Sanchez (abdominal injury) is also absent. There are also a number of doubts, including Mesut Ozil (ankle), Aaron Ramsey (calf), Per Mertesacker (facial injury), Francis Coquelin (ankle) and Kieran Gibbs (illness), while Shkodran Mustafi is lacking match fitness, having only recently started his pre-season following his participation in the Confederations Cup.
Wenger looks set to stick with a three-man defence, with Rob Holding and Nacho Monreal appearing likely starters. Mertesacker could join them if he’s passed fit, with Mustafi, Calum Chambers, and perhaps Mohamed Elneny other alternatives.
Sead Kolasinac is expected to start at left wing-back after impressing in the Community Shield, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain perhaps edging out Hector Bellerin on the opposite flank. Granit Xhaka looks a sure starter in central midfield, with Elneny set to be on standby if Ramsey is ruled out.
If Ozil is available, Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi may battle it out for the other attacking midfield spot, with Alexandre Lacazette expected to get the nod as the lone striker, though Oxlade-Chamberlain coule even take up a central support role if Wenger opts for Bellerin on the right. Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott provide further attacking options.
Gabriel looks set to miss out along with Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla.
