Arsenal have given its supporters something to cheer about by rejecting Juventus approach for Alexis Sanchez, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
The Chilean international has been heavily linked with a move to the Italian club with reports even claiming Juve have already had discussions with the winger’ representatives.
The Italian’s attempt to sign the winger has now been turned down by Arsenal. Wenger is not prepared to sell the winger despite the player having just two years left in his contract. There have been talks about the player being unsettled at the Emirates and would be open to a move away but he remains an integral part of Wenger’s plans and won’t be allowed to leave for any price.
Juventus had identified Sanchez as a replacement for Alvaro Morata but the Serie A Champions will now have to turn their attention to other targets.
Wenger is working actively to extend’s Sanchez’ contract at the Emirates and the club is expected to offer the forward a new deal when he returns for pre-season.
Sanchez joined Arsenal from Barcelona in 2014 for a fee of about £31.7m and has been a key part of the squad since his arrival. He scored 17 goals in all competitions for Arsenal last season.
