Liverpool have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar, according to reports.
Wenger has reportedly identified the playmaker as a priority signing and it is believed we are preparing a huge bid for his services.
However French outlet Telefoot via The Daily Star are claiming Liverpool have now joined the race to sign Lemar.
They reckon Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of the forward and will rival Arsenal for the playmaker.
Lemar had a fine campaign last term, scoring 19 goals as he helped his team win the French league title for the first time in over two decades.
The 21 year old midfielder alongside Kylian Mbappe are the two players in Monaco’s title winning squad on Wenger’s radar but we now face a fight to sign either of the duo due to increased competition.
Liverpool have the advantage of Champions League football but that shouldn’t be a problem if Wenger is determined to sign the midfielder.
Should Arsenal manage to secure the services of Lemar, he could come in as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez who is pushing for a move away from the Emirates.
At 21, Lemar could go on to become one of the best playmakers in Europe and there is no better place to continue his progress than the Emirates.
