Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal’s hopes of landing Leicester City left back Ben Chilwell have been dealt a massive blow, according to reports.
The Gunners were reported to be monitoring the teenage star with first choice left back Nacho Monreal turning 30 next month and Kieran Gibbs a bit far from being reliable defensively at the moment.
The Daily Mail reports that the Gunners made an offer in the region of £3.5m for the defender last summer, but the Gunners were hopeful of landing him in the upcoming summer window when he would have just 12 months left on his current contract.
The Daily Mail now reports the Foxes are set to offer Chilwell a new deal to keep him at the King Power Stadium. The new deal would see the defender earn ten times more than his current £800-per-week.
Speaking this week, Ranieri was adamant he wanted the defender to remain at the King Power Stadium, he said: “We are building and looking for good, talented young players. For this reason Ben and Demarai Gray are with us and this is our goal now, to build with talented young players.
“Ben is our future and he stays with us. He had a very great match against Spurs, he was sure and outstanding. I am very surprised with how well he played, but that is what I wanted.
“I am building a very good team with 22, 23 or 24 players and now I can rotate because there are so many matches. I said too many times this is a good club with good energy, a good strategy and our fans are very close to us.”
