Arsenal have been dealt a huge blow in the race to sign Leicester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez, according to a report in the Standard Sport.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with the midfielder and Wenger is said to be preparing an official bid. The club has now suffered a huge blow in its attempts as Leicester City manager has warned interested clubs that the midfielder would not be sold this summer.
Mahrez was an important part of Leicester’s squad last season, helping the Foxes to their first ever league title and the champions are very keen on keeping their star player.
Reports have been circulating that the current PFA player of the year is looking to follow N’Golo Kante out of the league champions but when asked about the midfielder’s future, Ranieri revealed the midfielder would stay at the King Power, saying:
“Yes, he wants to stay.”
Also adding that the club would keep hold of its best players: “I think everybody here is happy and then it’s finished, the market has finished.”
In my opinion, it would be better turning to other targets as Leicester City are hoping to do well in the Champions League next term and would do every thing possible to keep their best players including Mahrez.
