Arsenal fans will surely be shocked learning that manager Arsene Wenger actually tried to sign an already proven European superstar sometime ago.
According to the Express, the Arsenal boss tried but failed in his attempt to lure one of World’s best goalkeepers, Gianlugi Buffon to Arsenal?
Gi-gi, as he is popularly called, personally confirmed this huge transfer revelation to the media, claiming Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City made serious attempts for his signature over the years, but he, former club – Parma and current club – Juventus were having none of it and any offer for him was pushed aside.
“From what I know, there have been three serious times when English clubs made an approach for me,” Buffon said.
“Two of them were when I was a young player at Parma, and I know Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger asked about me – and then, when Manchester City was taken over, I know they approached Juventus.
