Arsene Wenger is increasingly confident of signing Thomas Lemar, despite Monaco’s reluctance to sell.
Monaco have already rejected two bids from Arsenal, insisting the winger will not be sold at any price.
But Wenger is apparently set to return with a third bid as he tries to force Monaco’s hands. The boss is said to be confident on getting the winger who he long identified as his no. 1 summer target.
After seeing an initial bid of £30m and a follow up bid of £40m rejected, the third bid is being tipped to be around £45m.
According to The Mirror, A five-year deal worth £100,000 has also been drawn up for the winger and Wenger is even prepared to go above £45m for his services.
It’s even suggested in some corners that Wenger is willing to smash the club record transfer fee for the second time this summer to land Lemar, meaning we could pay more than £52m to sign the winger.
Lemar’s representatives are now trying to force a move to the Emirates and have held talks with Monaco to inform them of the player’s desire to join Arsenal.
The winger is regarded as one of the brightest talents in Europe and Monaco knows his value will only continue to rise, hence their reason for wanting to keep him at all cost.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will be able to pull this deal off, he would be a massive acquisition if he joins us.
