Former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn is happy with Wenger’s summer transfer dealings so far and has backed him to make at least one more marquee signing.
Wenger recently smashed the club’s transfer record by spending £52m on Lacazette and Winterburn is full of praises for the new arrival.
The former full back believes Lacazette will justify his huge price tag and could be the next Ian Wright.
“Whenever I have seen Lacazette play, he is in the mould of Ian Wright – quick and very dangerous in the penalty area. He has the makings of a great signing,” the former full-back told the Mirror, as quoted by the Daily Cannon.
Winterburn also backed Arsenal to make at least one more big signing, as Wenger attempts to get his squad back on track after last season’s dismal campaign.
“It also shows Arsene’s determination to make the squad stronger – and I believe there will be more signings and at least one more big one.”
Wenger is currently chasing Monaco’s Thomas Lemar and reports claim he is ready to smash the club record deal for the second time this summer.
Arsenal are also interested in Kylian Mbappe who would set the club back by more than a £100m if we manage to sign him.
One more marquee signing may eventually be two if Wenger gets his wishes of signing both Mbappe and Lemar.
