Liverpool could rival Arsenal in the race to sign Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, according to the Daily Star.
Arsenal made a move for the English striker by activating his release clause last week, the striker was offered a four year deal and salary package worth over a £100,000 a week and It is believed that the striker has verbally agreed the contract with the Gunners but Leicester are also desperate to hold on to the striker and have offered the player a new deal to counter Arsenal’s offer.
The striker has now decided to take his time to mull over both offers and it is believed a decision wouldn’t be taken until after Euro 2016.
However the Gunners could face extra competition for Vardy’s services as it is believed that Liverpool who have been monitoring the striker for two years are considering making their move this summer.
Liverpool are considering signing a new striker after Christian Benteke failed to live up to expectations following his £32m to Anfield last summer. Should Liverpool decide to sell the Belgian, they could join the race to sign Vardy.
However, reports suggest the England international will reject a move to Liverpool as he is keen on playing Champions League football next season; leaving Arsenal all clear to complete a move for the sensational striker.
Vardy scored 24 league goals for Leicester City last season and should he decide to move, Arsenal and Liverpool could go head to head for his signature.
