Long Term Arsenal Target Confirms Dream Offer Has Been Made To Bring Him To The EPL.

While Gooners wait to see what becomes of the links with Brazilian defender, Gabriel Paulista, especially now United have reportedly joined in the chase, another League rival is apparently set to beat us to another Brazilian to whom we had been linked last summer.

The Metro reports that Chelsea have made an offer to Shakhtar Donestk for 24-year old Brazilian, Douglas Costa, a claim which the player himself has confirmed, describing a possible move to Stamford Bridge with a choice word.

“It would be a dream to play for Chelsea,” he said.

“It’s a unique chance. I will try to negotiate.”

Costa, like Chelsea’s Costa, has been linked with a potential move to Arsenal before last summer but no moves were made from the Emirates. It seems a bid has already been offered and subsequently rejected going by the player’s words to “negotiate”. Of course, Chelsea have done business with a former Shakhtar player before when they went ahead of Tottenham to poach Willian from Anzhi in 2013, and that could be the motivation behind Costa’s desire to join Chelsea.

Sources say a fee of about £16 million has been offered but perhaps the Ukranian Champions seem to value the diminutive attacking midfielder a bit more. Costa has been at the Donbass since 2010 and has earned five League title medals for the consecutive Ukranian Championship titles they have won since then. They are currently on a mid-season break, touring Brazil, their next competitive match will be at home to Bayern in the second round of the Champions League, and Costa played in all 6 of their Group stage games, even scoring in their 7 – 0 rout of BATE Borisov.

Again, Chelsea do not look like they need this player and it could be one of those whom they buy simply to prevent others from having him. Not like Arsenal are still interested (at the moment), but the fact there have been rumours of possible exits for some of their players – Salah and Schurrle precisely – makes it partly incredulous that they are actually in for him.

Then, there are other players who are out on loan who don’t look like they have a future at the club; Marko Marin has been sent on another loan, Victor Moses, Christian Atsu, Oriol Romeu, etc.

Maybe Costa will do himself a favour and ask his teammate, Eduardo, which London team will better give him a chance to play regularly, just so what he calls a dream isn’t a veiled nightmare.
