Arsenal star Carl Jenkinson has revealed his eagerness to start performing for our club again.

It’s been two years since we last saw the full back in an Arsenal shirt and he has revealed he is raring to go after returning to training.

Jenkinson left the club for West Ham on a two year loan spell in 2014 but midway into the second year of his loan, the defender suffered a serious injury which ended the loan prematurely. He has since been receiving treatment at the Emirates and only returned to training few days ago.

Despite the difficulty he faced this last seven to eight months, the defender believes he has become a better player in the last two years.

“I’ve definitely grown up a lot in the last couple of years,” he told Arsenal.com.

“I like to think I’ve always been quite a mature lad but just learning how to deal in everyday life with certain situations, I think I’ve matured a lot.

“I think on the pitch I’m better at making decisions and it comes with experience.

“I’ve played a lot of football over the last couple of years for someone my age.

“I’ve played 50 odd games in the Premier League, which was fantastic for me.

“That experience is invaluable.”

Jenkinson will now provide competition and cover for Hector Bellerin who has established himself as the club’s undisputed first choice right back in his absence.

Should Jenkinson prove to be a better player now compared to two years ago, it will be a big plus for us as he would add quality and increased depth to the squad which is needed for a successful title challenge.
