The Mirror are reporting Arsenal could lose Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for nothing next summer, if contract renewal talks continue to stall.
Chamberlain is in the final year of his contract but talks to renew his deal has so far been unsuccessful. Arsenal opened contract renewal talks with the winger a fortnight ago but progress haven’t been made at all.
Reports were in circulation on Sunday morning that Chamberlain has rejected a contract offer from Arsenal amid interest from Liverpool.
The Reds have been monitoring the midfielder since January and have already had one bid rejected. They have apparently been boosted by his contractual situation and some reports are already claiming they are lining up a new offer.
However, Arsenal would be reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival and may decide to hold on to him.
Should an agreement be difficult to reach then, Chamberlain would be able to enter talks with interested clubs in January and the Gunners will be powerless to stop him from leaving for nothing next summer.
How Arsenal have gotten itself into such a difficult situation is difficult to understand. The club is still struggling to tie Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez down to new contracts both of whom are also in the last year of their contracts. The futures of Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs are also uncertain and both could also leave for free next summer.
