Arsenal’s interest in Bordeaux star Malcom was well documented throughout the course of the January transfer window.
The Brazilian youngster has been in sensational form in Ligue 1 this season and as a result of this, has attracted interest from clubs in the Premier League, including Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
Malcom is a key player for Bordeaux, though, and following the arrival of Gus Poyet as the club’s new manager, he was told he was going nowhere in the mid-season window.
The tricky wide man was understood to have been keen on a move to the Premier League, however, and confirmed this himself in an interview with French news outlet Telefoot, as cited by the Evening Standard.
“It’s my dream to progress in my career. I spoke to the president, he told me that he knew it was my dream, but that he needed me.
I told him he could count on me until the end of the season, I will do everything to help Bordeaux finish in the top six in Ligue 1.”
Malcom remains an option for Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window, it seems. However, following the addition of Henrikh Mkhitaryan in a similar position, the Gunners are not short of wide men in their squad.
The 20-year-old, who has netted on eight occasions from the wing this season, will undoubtedly be open to a Premier League switch in the summer.
