Manchester City are set to battle Arsenal for Celtic youngster Kieran Tierney, according to The Daily Star.
The 19 year old is one of the fastest rising youngsters in the Scottish Premier League having made 16 appearances for his club this season.
He broke into the first team last year and was impressive, he has continued again this term, winning plaudits for his superb performances.
Apparently, our scouts have been present at Celtic’s matches to watch the defender on numerous occasions. It is believed we have been impressed by the youngster and have earmarked him as a future signing.
However, we are not alone in the race to sign the player. Premier League rivals Manchester City have also watched him and have been impressed also.
It appears we are in danger of losing out on the defender as Guardiola has reportedly stepped up his interest after watching him first hand at City’s 3-3 draw with Celtic a week ago.
Tierney was heavily linked to Arsenal as a replacement for Kieran Gibbs in the summer transfer window but a move didn’t happen as Gibbs didn’t leave the Emirates in the summer. Our continued scouting of the Scot means we are interested in a future move but City’s interest could scupper our plans.
Wenger will have to step up his interest and rival City for the defender’s signature. Gibbs future at the club is still far from certain, Monreal is getting older by the day and is still being linked with a move back to his boyhood club his boyhood club Atletic Bilbao, hence a youngster like Tierney will be a good replacement should anything happen.
