Bordeaux manager Gustavo Poyet has conceded that he is resigned to losing Malcom in the summer following talk of a move to the Premier League.
Arsenal are reportedly keen on a January move for the highly-rated Brazilian, yet the French club stated that he would be going nowhere before the transfer deadline.
However, although the Ligue 1 side would like to keep hold of Malcom come the start of next season, it looks increasingly likely that he will be on his way.
The Gunners, who brought in Henrikh Mkhitaryan during the transfer window, continue to be linked with the 20-year-old.
Having only seen Malcom in action a handful of times since his appointment as manager, Poyet knows the winger will almost certainly be on his way in the future.
“He is a special player who can win matches on his own,” Poyet told Marca.
“He is often double-marked because his talent is that special, and in January we were nervous because we almost lost him to the Premier League.
“We must prepare for this because sooner or later he will leave.”
“Yes, there was a promise that I will be negotiating in June,” Malcom told Brazilian outlet UOL, as reported by the Daily Mail.
“I will choose the team, and Bordeaux will let me go. I already said that I would have liked to leave this winter to meet new challenges. But I must also remember that Bordeaux helped me a lot.
“I gave my word to Bordeaux that I will continue [with the club] to be able to have more time to choose my future club.
“These next three or four months will make a big difference.”
