Mario Gotze has emerge a target for Arsenal and Manchester United But Pep Guardiola will not sell the young playmaker [Picture: Getty]
Arsenal and Manchester United have been handed a huge transfer blow in their pursuit for World cup winning star.
The Premier league duo have been told by Bayern Munich boss that World cup winning midfielder Mario Gotze is not for sale as he remains a part of his plans for next season.
Arsenal and United seemed to have had things going their way when former German and Liverpool star Dietmar Hamann insisted that both Premier league giants has a huge chance of signing Gotze at the end of the season as he believed the attacker is unhappy in Germany and would seek a move away in the summer.
“Mario Gotze is badly out of form and Bayern Munich are highly likely to sell him.” Hamann told Goal.com.
“He’s not happy at the club, and the club aren’t happy with him. When that’s the case it’s better all round to have a parting of the ways.”
“Bayern will want to get back roughly what they paid for Gotze but whether anyone is willing to cop a £30m fee is another matter.”
But the former Barcelona boss has moved to dismiss claims of Gotze being unhappy at the Allianz Arena.
Guardiola said: “He helped us a lot. He’s a young player with a lot of talent. It is my decision that he hasn’t played much in recent games.
“I am very happy with his attitude. There is no discussion as to whether he stays or not.”
Gotze, 22, has scored 15 goals in 46 appearances for Bayern this season, and would represent a good steal should either of Manchester United or Arsenal manage to get him from the Grasp of Guardiola.
