Valencia have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina, according to reports.
Arsenal are believed to be interested in Lemina, with Wenger said to be preparing a summer bid for the defensive midfielder.
The Gabon international who has drawn comparisons with Manchester United Paul Pogba is believed to be Wenger’s preferred target to strengthen our midfield.
Wenger is keen on a physical midfielder who will add the much needed still and dynamics to our midfield and he sees Lemina as the ideal target.
However, Valencia would now compete with Arsenal in the race to sign the midfielder. The La Liga side are willing to spend up to £20m on the midfielder which is way more than what Arsenal are expected to offer.
Juventus on their part are willing to sell the player and will be hoping to drive up interest in the midfielder so as to recoup the £17m they payed to sign him.
Lemina wouldn’t be a bad signing for us, he is a very talented lad with huge potential. He is the sort of player we need even though he doesn’t feature in Juventus’ immediate plans.
Whether Arsenal will be willing to match Valencia’s offer is another question. Wenger has an history of being reluctant to pay more than what he thinks is the right market value of a player and that could give Valencia an edge in the race to sign the midfielder. However, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
